The Outspan Hospital Physiotherapy Department opened its doors to clients in January 2006 and is involved in rehabilitation of both in-patients and Out-patients.
Physiotherapy is the assessment, treatment and prevention of injuries and disorders by physical means. It complements other therapies and treatments. .

It involves assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disease, injury or disability by use of physical means such as exercise, electrical agents (heat), massage, rather than use of drugs.Doctors and patients have over the years come to trust us and rely on us for provision of quality physiotherapy services..Back and neck pains, arthritis, chest conditions eg cardiac rehabilitation, breathing retraining, congestive chest conditions ans assistance in postural drainage are among the conditions which can be effectively treated through physiotherapy.

Among Physiotherapy procedures carried out include:
1. Electrotherapy
This is treatment by use of machine eg. Shortwave diathermy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, interferential therapy or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.           

2. Manual therapy
Special “hands on” manipulative techniques used to relieve pain, pressure and relax tensed soft tissues.

3.Post- natal exercise
font size This is done for post delivery mothers in maternity. The exercises aim at firming abdominal and sphincter muscles and reduce post – delivery back pains.
